Our Unlearning Diet Culture Program is a 9-week live, online group program designed to help you find freedom from the shackles of chronic dieting. Led by Riana Giusti, MS, CN, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and Dani Michaels, MS, RD, an Eating Disorder and Body Image specialist, this program provides a safe, confidential space for you to explore, understand, and dismantle diet culture’s hold on your life.

Intuitive Eating and Body Trust
Rooted Path Nutrition utilizes an Intuitive Eating approach and the Body Trust Framework to help you reconnect with your body’s natural cues. What is the Unlearning Diet Culture Group?
- Our Unlearning Diet Culture Group is a high-level support group, with 9 weeks of LIVE online virtual sessions facilitated by masters level nutritionists.
- It is designated space for confidential and brave discussions. Learn and practice skills to improve your relationship to food and body, while developing a healthy and sustainable relationship to food.
Who is this group FOR?
This group is for those who are ready to reestablish trust in their own body, and break out of the predictable, repetitive pattern of dieting, disordered eating and weight cycling. This program is designed to explore internalized shame, trauma, and body-based oppression, as well!
Who is this group NOT for?
This group is not for people that are still actively pursuing dieting and restriction. If you are not ready to make peace with food, connect with your body’s internal signals, and explore the internal, mental and emotional struggles around food choice, weight, and body image, this program will not be a good fit.
Who leads the sessions?
The Unlearning Diet Culture group was created and facilitated by Riana Giusti, MS, CN a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and Dani Michaels, MS, RDN, an Eating Disorder and Body Image specialist. Their combined experience spans over 15 years in the nutrition and disordered eating space, including in-patient care facilities and private practice. They are passionate about helping individuals and families in recovery from diet-culture harm and weight stigma.
How many people will be in the group?
Group size can vary, but will be limited to no more than 20 people per group. We will do our best to provide an intimate and supportive space to share and learn.
Are there age restrictions to joining the group?
At this time, participants must be 18 or older. Please do reach out if you are younger and in need of a group space, as we may have options available in the future if we learn there is a need.
How much does it cost?
- This group is generally covered by insurance! Depending on your insurance plan, you may be subject to a co-pay.
If you don’t have insurance or would prefer to pay out of pocket, the cost to attend all 9 weeks is $979; $250 is due upon registration. You can also do 3 monthly payments of $359, with the first payable at registration and the second and third paid at 1-month increments. - While we do not offer refunds, if you require a cancellation after registration, you will be reimbursed all you have already paid except the initial $250, which we keep for our processing and cancellation fee.
When are sessions?
- Thursday evenings from 6-7:30pm PST, October 3rd through December 12th. Each session is 90 minutes long.
- Session dates are as follows: Oct 3rd, Oct 10th, Oct 17th, Oct 24th, Nov 7th, Nov 14th, Nov 21st, Dec 5th, Dec 12th
There will be NO sessions on Oct 31st and Nov 28th
What am I committing to?
We have a commitment agreement to ensure the best possible group experience. Because we are committed to being there for you throughout this program, we ask that you commit to it as well. We ask you to sign a commitment agreement upon registration that reserves your space and assures us you will be there for all the sessions. We collect your credit card information in our electronic health record system.
What if I need to miss a group?
Committing and showing up is key to breakthroughs, so we ask that you attend all sessions. We understand, however, that life happens! We allow up to 1 missed session for unforeseen circumstances. If you know in advance you will be unable to attend one of the sessions, please give as much notice as possible.
Is support available outside of the group?
Absolutely! All of the providers here at Rooted Path Nutrition work with clients 1:1, accept insurance, and would be honored to support you.
